## Comments

**r_lucasite:** [[Breach the Multiverse]] overlayed on top of him here.

**Smythe28:** Ooh that’s a great catch, very cool.

**[unknown]:** [deleted]

**thomasswayne:** Is there a source to this claim? Where is the line between paying homage and plagerism?

**[unknown]:** [deleted]

**Jjerot:** https://preview.redd.it/blq1vnjj43qh1.png?width=793&format=png&auto=webp&s=d737aa00d18a03bc8bd9b7464663e2ac5684b3e2
These are not the same lines. It's very clearly referencing that artwork, likely at Wizards direction.

**Sadrixis:** Lmao you dont have eyes apparently. That shit is not the same. She drew an image of a thing for an ip amd the wanted to use the same imagery. Overlay the images amd its obviously a redraw of something wizards own the license to

**Granum22:** Stole art from WotC? The people who paid him to create it?

**stoovano:** Please stop spreading bold face lies, yes its a direct reference to breach, but its obviously not the art just pasted over, likely the art director wanted breach to be featured on the new jace and this is what volkan did

**WyrmWatcher:** Have you looked at the Art? There is no part that's copied over

**Absalom98:** https://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/1wis0fk/liiga_smilshkalne_alleges_volkan_bagas_art_for/

**mtgcf:** Breach the Multiverse - (G) (SF) (txt)

**liveactiongeek:** Strong "I am the multiverse" vibes.

**Frank_the_Mighty:** Absolutely sick af

**Flanagax:** I went back to look at the art for BtM, and I never noticed that the empty space in the center is an outline of Emrakul
Am I seeing that right, or is my brain trying to find a pattern that isn't there?

**dierix10:** Think it’s a coincidence, pretty sure the middle is just all of realm breaker

**D-D-Wanderer:** Realmbreaker being somehow shaped like Emrakul would be a neat little trick though, what with it imitating the Eldrazi's ability to traverse the Blind Eternities without access to a Spark.

**dierix10:** You right, imagine the way the phyrexians return is through the eldrazi getting messed up or something like that

**Syncopia:** Phyrexian eldrazi sliver Bolas is coming.

**dierix10:** Ykw why not 💀

**Approximation_Doctor:** Oh that +1 is clever. Put any bombs that you accidentally drew back into your deck where they're useful.

**StitchNScratch:** [[penance]] stocks going back up

**The_Super_D:** I've been running that card in [[Yennett]] for years. It's great!

**mtgcf:** Yennett - (G) (SF) (txt)

**mtgcf:** penance - (G) (SF) (txt)

**paradoxdr:** [[River Song]] stocks looking bullish

**Great-Trifle2810:** I mean realistically you want to throw away a bad card, not lock yourself into drawing the bad cards.

**Yellow_Odd_Fellow:** With Jace and other scry options, youre filtering what you draw from the bottom.
It also conveniently punishes your opponent for interacting with their deck.
All I all i wish it was in arena.

**[unknown]:** [deleted]

**paradoxdr:** saying sensei's is mid is quite the hot take

**[unknown]:** [deleted]

**paradoxdr:** I did see your point, I just disagree with your conclusion.
Sensei's on it's own is a great card.

**Yellow_Odd_Fellow:** This man doesnt bolt the bird either, I bet.

**mtgcf:** River Song - (G) (SF) (txt)

**xbiskxalex:** Omg that's hilarious

**Pietru24:** My first thought as well

**MissLeaP:** In most decks it's actually worse than just discarding it. Hence why surveil is usually more valuable than scry. Also no discard triggers.

**TerribleTransit:** Usually, yes, but most decks don't have a Polymorph in the command zone

**TenebTheHarvester:** Except when you’re playing with what’s in your deck, like this card does.

**levetzki:** It's important in some decks though. Modern Enduring ideal did used these effects back in like 2012? Not a great deck but there are a number of cards that want this effect over discard. All tutor/cheat into play of some kind though.

**AppleWedge:** Jace costs 5 mana. At that point, I want the bombs in my hand and would rather have the ability to pitch things like low cmc mana rocks and early turn utility creatures out of my deck.
Like yes, I know his -3 is polymorph, but you're putting things on the bottom of your deck, and by the time Jace is on board for a turn or two, you can just hard cast your fatties.

**croquetoo:** i dont think you can easily cast your fatties on turn 4-5 in a greenless deck

**AppleWedge:** If you're not running enough lands and ramp to cast baddies, then you are going to have a horrible time with your five mana commander. He'll come out late, get removed once, and then will never see the board again.

**croquetoo:** Who said anything about land count lol. The precon itself has 39 i think.

**Commercial-Tea-2744:** 5 cmc Thoracle consultation slop polymorph

**AppleWedge:** If that is how you're using this commander, then you're just having a different conversation than the guy who is talking about throwing bombs back into his deck.

**jakecshn:** I have played a Kykar polymorph deck consistently for almost two years and it is a very strong deck. I believe I am qualified to speak on this strategy.
This is everything I would ever want out of a polymorph commander. It is trivial to generate the tokens you need, polymorphs are the harder part to find. This puts one in your command zone. A lot of my card advantage spells also specifically put cards back into my deck so the bombs don’t get stuck in my hand. This does that too.
This is genuinely an ideal polymorph commander. I just wish it were fewer colors. It’s almost too easy.

**Kapjak:** Don't miss that caveat with any Jaces not just Jace

**Sizle_Velfurion:** So if your name is Jace... BRB going to the county court house.

**Impressive-Dig-3892:** Wait, your name is Jace too?
No that's why I'm so fucking confused

**UMACTUALLYITS23:** And the worms are their money 🎶
The bones are their dollars 🎶

**hypatiaC:** Hey now, control yourself!

**SignificantCats:** You'll need to present a document from a therapist that you are fully in control of yourself though

**scalebirds:** Time for CEDH [[Vorthos]]

**mtgcf:** Vorthos - (G) (SF) (txt)

**RadioLiar:** This set has so many hilarious lines of rules text

**thunder-bug-:** I’m just glad we got another 4 color commander that has black

**HigherCalibur:** SAME. I've been on a quest to build every combination with black but don't want to build any of the available 4 color commanders or partners so this deck was a must-buy for me. Really excited to build this.

**igniteice:** Now we have THREE... I've been playing Breya for years now, but I think I'll switch it up with Jace here. It really doesn't change much, except Breya is so good with the flying blockers and sac fodder.

**PomegranateAgitated4:** This should be the fifth one no?

**igniteice:** https://scryfall.com/search?q=is%3Acommander+identity%3Dwubr

**PomegranateAgitated4:** He said 4 color that has black tho, not sans green

**Arcane_Soul:** I desperately want another non-white 4c commander.

**collected_company:** 5mv polymorph out of the command zone in 4c identity. Definitely a fun build for bracket 3.

**MTGLawyer:** I mean, this is much better as a Bracket 4 (vs 3) commander and might be borderline cEDH playable. It's a 4 color (the best 4 colors no less) commander that is a 0 card combo that wins the game.
You grab Hullbreacher / Tidespout Tyrant and use random net positive rocks to assemble infinite mana, then you draw your deck by casting spells to flicker Jace (using his +1 to draw more gas through the combo turn), end the game with whatever combo you want from there.
The worst part is that you have to have some random creature/jace token generation in your deck. I'm assuming enough of that exists that's otherwise playable, but would require some review.
It's probably an upgrade to Tasigur, which has been a borderline cEDH playable commander for a long time.

**Majias:** Green being the worst color is a take I haven't seen in a long time

**Weird_Wuss:** as bracket gets higher green gets worse, i think green being the worst color in cedh is pretty uncontroversial

**scoobym00:** No, red has like 3 spells, green is probably 3rd best after blue and black. Gaeas cradle strats have gotten better and thrasios is super good

**Ap_Sona_Bot:** Silences > green. Its close but I think white is better.

**Rabbit_Wizard_:** One of those spells is the best card in the format though

**Candy_Warlock:** Those three spells are so cracked that they justify running the color on their own

**MTGLawyer:** Green is the probably best color in Bracket 1-3 and just fine in Bracket 4, but I think uniformly considered the worst color in Bracket 5/cEDH. Since I was looking at this from the lens of potential cEDH viability, it seemed worth calling out that you get all the best colors. But you're right that for 99% of folks playing commander, green being the "worst" color is a relatively bad take.

**Exporation1:** In CEDH. Fast mana is available to every color so greens biggest strength is negated. I’d argue it’s close to last with Red. In brackets 2-3 it’s by far the best. In 4 Blue is solidly the best.

**Rabbit_Wizard_:** Red has the best single card. Red is the most played across top 8s.

**SoloWing1:** Jeska's will?

**Tiny-Management2410:** I'm guessing Underworld Breach.

**Rabbit_Wizard_:** Breach

**triforce777:** Last I had checked (around Lorwyn Eclipsed) green had been seeing a strong resurgence. IIRC it was taking advantage of the lack of creature removal at most cEDH tables to do creature combos and Gaea's Cradle shenanigans, so not really because of new cards but a meta shift. Did that just fall out of favor again?

**AppleWedge:** Then you aren't in cEDH or high power circles (which this comment is about). It is a very common take.

**flameian:** The stuff green does great in regular commander is less valuable in cedh where artifact acceleration, tutors, and combos that tend to revolve on only one or two redundant pieces hitting the field once as well as hardcore stax decks are basically the meta afaik. Neither of those decks really need green in any particular way, as opposed to regular edh.

**Rabbit_Wizard_:** It is not cEDH playable. You have nothing to exile to polymorph

**ubermence:** Tokens exist

**Ap_Sona_Bot:** The fetchable eldraine land that makes a creature on etb

**Rabbit_Wizard_:** Why not just play Urza then? Urza finds the polymorph easier than this deck can find a land. Urza does things before polymorph. I'm not saying this isn't good but it's no cEDH card

**MTGLawyer:** This is 4 color vs mono blue, which opens up a lot of additional cards/lines. I also disagree with your assertion that spending a card / turn tutoring an otherwise dead card (Polymorph) is easier than activating a fetchland or using crop rotation or just having any incidental token generation.
This probably isn't good enough simply because Polymorph is a borderline cEDH strategy. However, this might be the new top Polymorph commander, so it's worth thinking about vs outright dismissal.

**TerribleTransit:** That passive is... pretty elegant, actually. Solves the #1 way Planeswalker commanders are normally trash tier (people sending their throwaway damage at them because it feels less aggressive than hitting a player's life total) without being all that oppressive to fight through if you actively want to kill him.

**Ap_Sona_Bot:** I dislike the passive on THIS Jace specifically. It takes 3 more turns to get a single extra polymorph off and im never casting this without immediately polying

**TerribleTransit:** Yeah, it would definitely play better on a walker that wanted to build up to an ultimate than this guy who you don't care so much about dying, but at least it means there's a meaningful cost to shutting down your draw engine beyond sending an evasive 1/1 your way.

**Bob_The_Skull:** Eh, if you have other planeswalkers or ways to put loyalty counters on Jace, it's fine.
I agree it's kind of middle to above average, but if you make it too good people will Always swing at Jace.
I think it being "middling without support" plus the kinda annoying passive makes it unlikely for people to swing at Jace until support pieces come into play, or they may be more likely to attack those pieces.
If the polymorph was a 0 or even a -1, 70% of the time you'd hear "They could bring in a blightsteel and then an eldrazi! Swing now" and it would never live longer than a turn or two.
I think it's still middling even with those buffs, tbh I think -2 feels like a better sweet spot than -3, but I can see how they iterate into where this is.

**miniGeldor:** Just blink jace

**Pleasurefailed2load:** I think you include other polymorph effects in the deck, then you moreso look at this as a guaranteed first polymorph + draw engine. If they kill it cool they spent mana and you can eventually cast a poly again. If they don't you just get continued value.

**shinjisaberntr:** Any lore experts on why Jace has no green?

**Approximation_Doctor:** Green is the color of nature and accepting the world for what it is. Jace is rejecting the entire multiverse and building a new one. He's the least green character of all time.

**joetotheg:** Well he had some green but he took it out and made a Tam

**elegylegacy:** And of all space

**Kyz99:** So can we shortcut greenless decks into "Jace!" then?

**thomasswayne:** Yeah it's the same thought excersise as why Urza never has green haha

**SkyrakerBeyond:** Nothing about what Jace is doing here is natural.

**swankyfish:** Green is natural order, balance, maintaining the status quo. Jace is flipping the table.

**Jacern:** Im guessing he gave it to Tam?

**charcharmunro:** Hates accepting the way things are.

**ThatChrisG:** Green is the color of nature and also not fucking with the fabric of reality

**limitsoflaziness:** He's refusing to grow

**Vedney:** Less about growth, but more about acceptance.

**Gstamsharp:** Probably because Tam is green. He gave it away.
Which is really funny, since his -3 is very green-coded.

**Bob_UwU:** His -3 is literally red and blue…….

**seredin:** lately there have been a lot of "reward from top of library when your creature leaves" green effects, but yeah historically pretty solidly not green.

**AzazeI888:** It’s a primary blue, secondary red effect.

**Jevonar:** His -3 is like chaos warp, polymorph, shape anew, unbound creativity... Nothing about that effect is green

**Belteshazzar98:** His feminine side was green and he cut her out.

**Zoom3877:** He wants to overwrite an entire multiverse. That's neither natural nor harmonious.

**ArcfireEmblem:** Four-color decks are more about rejection of something than what they accept. Rejection of order (white) creates chaos, rejection of intelligence (blue) creates beastliness, rejection of darkness (black) usually creates harmony or peace, rejection of emotion (red) creates a phyrexia-like harmony, and rejection of wisdom/nature (green) causes artificiality.

**ProofJournalist:** Green is a color best associated with Dr. Doom and making him not-Green distances this from Battleworld.

**-Makeka-:** The green part of Jace is Tam, which was the first part he removed from himself after the incident in the meditation plane. She represents his boundless curiosity. Curiosity is the one thing Blue and Green can agree on; which is also the foundation of Quandrix. On the other end of that spectrum is Simic, which is Blue exploiting Green to attain greater knowledge/results.

**Slipperyandcreampied:** This will probably be the best polymorph commander yet, beating out both Lukka and Illuna.
I forsee this precon going triple-platinum for some time.

**Alarmed-Guava7696:** His main competitor goes into the deck easily: Kykar

**Revhan:** It's almost up there with Urza, time will tell if speed is preferable to more colors/tools

**WafflesTheMan:** I really don't think this is strictly better than Kykar or even the new Vraska for Polymorph. This is 1-2 mana more expensive than those 2 and doesn't make tokens to poly off of.

**BismuthPerson:** Tokens are the easy part, polymorphing is the hard part.

**Tliggz:** [[Grenzo, Dungeon Warden]] secret commander!

**mtgcf:** Grenzo, Dungeon Warden - (G) (SF) (txt)

**SSJ_Bobby_Hill:** Well thats a fun superfriends commander, might take green out of my 5c Jared deck and try him out

**Alarmed-Guava7696:** You can also just use the new 5c Tam

**Palinomana:** Desperately searching the net can't find her
Edit found her

**SmokinMythics:** https://preview.redd.it/jo2nmo1fjxph1.jpeg?width=672&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7afd12bedda8f42f166239cc0398d760271f83da

**Last_Hat7276:** Losing green its pretty bad for superfriends. Green have so many good tools, like doubling season. Its petty sad to lose it

**go_sparks25:** Most of the time this will be a polymorph into Emrakul commander sadly . Similar to how Illuna is a mutate into omniscience commander.

**SpireSwagon:** emrakul is a terrible pod target, we have *much* more diabolical hits lol.

**go_sparks25:** I am not really a commander player. I know there are better hits. I’m just naming the biggest scariest thing I can name off the top of my head.

**Jarkonian:** [[River Song]] has a new husband

**Shitty_Wingman:** Jace is somewhat coded as a Dr. Who morally grey villain who River casually mentions is hot, now that I think about it

**mtgcf:** River Song - (G) (SF) (txt)

**really_stupidfrog:** I think that's anti synergy honestly. generally you'll be better off using it as discard rather than just bringing back the same cards.

**Ballchynski:** Ayyy finally a new non-WURG 4 color Commander option

**notalongtime420:** I predicted the polymorph effect to the T but i didnt expect him to cost 5

**Reasonable_Bath_269:** Token making non-creature spells and big creature/planeswalkers go nicely I guess. Or go only 1 creature and hit it every time

**Reply_or_Not:** > Token making non-creature spells and big creature/planeswalkers go nicely I guess.
Token making non-creature spells and big creature/planeswalkers go nicely I guess.
Probably a reasonable way to make a B3 deck
> Or go only 1 creature and hit it every time
Or go only 1 creature and hit it every time
or two creatures that do the same thing like [[Tidespout Tyrant]] [[Hullbreacher Horror]] to immediately combo win. I wonder if this will be cEDH playable?

**DeathemperorDK:** The cedh subreddit seems to think so

**Borednow989898:** I'm reading this like [[Oath Of Druids]]
With a built in way to put your beaters back in the deck? Heck, it also has a reshuffle built in?
Am I wrong?

**mtgcf:** Oath Of Druids - (G) (SF) (txt)

**MuphynToy:** I always love getting four color commanders.

**DarkLanternZBT:** [[Breya, Etherium Shaper]] - The difference between you and me is I make this look good .

**Kirbigth:** This deck is just gonna be 4c jace superfriends tribal isn't it 😂

**Ok_Wallaby_3701:** I wish that was what it was

**DJRY:** That’s how I’m building it at least

**Kirbigth:** Don't forget [[space beleren]]

**mtgcf:** space beleren - (G) (SF) (txt)

**Ulmao_TheDefiler:** Ya know i think I will actually forget that one

**Tight_Profession:** Now if we can just get an enchantment called form/memory/shards of jace that turns you into a jace planes walker in the spirit of the [[form of the dragon]] cards. Then we'll have a strong foundation to build the esper players wet dream of a pillow fort with a few nails hidden inside for the red fort psychos among us.
Link to the form cards. https://scryfall.com/search?q=form+of+the&unique=cards&as=grid&order=name

**Shitty_Wingman:** I absolutely love that Miku, the Complete Per form er is the only card accidentally in there because scryfall also includes its actual name of Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger

**Zoom3877:** One last Jace for the road... (please let him stay dead this time... cmon WotC the dude deserves a rest)

**SpireSwagon:** I feel like wotc has a good track record for this. Gideon has been haunting the narrative for years and he's still dead after so many opportunities to bullshit a way

**xSol0_Dol0x:** Is this strong? Asking for a friend

**Greaterthancotton:** Run a bunch of ways to make tokens ala [[bitterblossom]], fill your top end with crazy bombs, and you should have a neat polymorph deck.

**xSol0_Dol0x:** I’m sorry, I’m a new player. What are bombs?

**Greaterthancotton:** Bombs are big, splashy, explosive cards. They radically change the battlefield. Usually very expensive.
Stuff like [[valgavoth, terror eater]], [[jin gitaxis, progress tryrant]], [[avacyn, angel of hope]].

**Greaterthancotton:** “Polymorph” here is in reference to the card [[polymorph]], which has a similar effect to jace’s -3.

**mtgcf:** polymorph - (G) (SF) (txt)

**mtgcf:** bitterblossom - (G) (SF) (txt)

**ThisHatRightHere:** It's...interesting. Draw engine + soft Ghostly Prison effect on your commander is pretty good. The minus is a polymorph effect, which if you build your deck a certain way can always be a bomb.

**telenstias:** Staring at opponent behind Ghostly Prison, Rhystic Study, Smothering Tithe and this
Do. You. Pay. The. 2?

**scalebirds:** “Hey, I summoned Emrakul! Nice. Wait-“

**BattMakerRed:** I don’t care that it has 3 other colors, THIS is my new Mono Blue “Oops, All Jace” commander

**MARPJ:** I mean, you still need white for [[Space Beleren]]

**CreditReavus:** Is this the precon commander?

**C9Jew:** Same question, but I assume so. Same 4 colors and can be commander.

**C9Jew:** Confirmed btw

**Zoom3877:** Dammit my friend told me that he has "glowy frowny eye nipples" and now I cannot unsee it

**W34kness:** Sanctum lurker: Boss I’m tired please let me rest

**Electronic-Touch-554:** Holy pushed. 5 mana 4 colour commander with protection, card advantage and polymorph.
Hell, cedh viable. Poly kraken just got a new commander.

**ATarnishedofNoRenown:** I... Actually kinda want to build this? I'm not usually a Planeswalker guy, but this seems pretty fun and open-ended without just being 5 colour good stuff.

**MysticAttack:** This deck seems like could be pretty funny. Just load up on token generators and fucked up bombs so that you always hit some 6+ mana crazy card

**CardinalFool:** Interesting.... With the empower have mechanic, this can use those to technically make a hidden commander strategy for literally any planeswalker, as long as it's the only walker or creature in your deck
Heck re reading it, you can do that with any token creators with a single creature too

**Cushions:** Why is it not worded as “the beginning of each opponents combat phase”?

**Primary_Will_1334:** Displacer kitten, jeskai vraska, and any talisman seems to be the way to truly benefit from that minis ability in a big way. Assembling those pieces is the tricky part, but I think that it could be worth it.

**-Makeka-:** Goodbye Jace 🥲

**Tight_Profession:** Now if we can just get an enchantment called form/echo/memory of jace that acts like the form of x cards that also make you a jace we will have a strong foundational support for our pillows like every esper players wet dream and the few unhinged one that put spikes in their pillows with red.

**FrankLaPuof:** What if my name is Jace?

**Ol_JanxSpirit:** Then your parents are nerds.

**RiloRetro:** I thought Jace, Reality Sculpter was the commander?

**EnkiBye:** I hate that the -3 is almost never going to exile a planeswalker, and almost always exile a token. Feel like flavor text.

**FlySkyHigh777:** I think the main reason for this is to let him exile the Jace token that is created by Empower Jace. Gives him a "free" target to hit.

**Mand125:** Can someone explain why he couldn’t have been your commander without the line saying he can be your commander?

**Rabid_Lederhosen:** Planeswalkers can’t be Commanders by default.

**Packleader1997:** Because currently plainswalkers cant be your commander in edh

**NapTooN:** > Because currently plainswalkers cant be your commander in edh
Because currently plainswalkers cant be your commander in edh
you are absolutely correct, I just checked Scryfall and there is no Legendary Creature with Plainswalk
https://preview.redd.it/yxjie57068qh1.png?width=1053&format=png&auto=webp&s=ba481712a9310399d9051f575b603365b22f3e51

**poonjabber720:** Planeswalkers are not allowed to be Commanders, unless specified on the card.

**DoomRevenant:** Considering the sheer rate at which you're able to draw cards and curate your deck order and hand during play, this actually seems like it could be a really powerful commander
Polymorph decks tend to suffer from the unreliabiliy of playing directly from the top of the deck, and Jace here greatly minimizes that problem due to his +1 effect essentially being a better scry.
So this commander can not only benefit from being a new staple in polymorph decks, but also from scry-heavy playstyles where you can leverage the top card of your deck directly - cards that take advangage of that top card directly, one of the most famous being [[Bolas's Citadel]], would be especially effective in a deck with this commander
I'm really excited to see this in play, it's a cool design space that I think is quite underappreciated and underused, so it'll be awesome to see what people will do with this

**Simple_Car_2611:** I don't understand, why is his +1 better? It puts the card at the bottom of the library, meaning it's not a card you will polymorph into.

**Anaxamander57:** Creator of the Jaciverse.

**Nuille:** Jaces

**rayschoon:** Jaceaganda

**VoiceofKane:** Holy shit, it's a Polymorph deck? That's rad as hell and I might need to buy this one.

**Sneakbeaky:** Idk if I should make this my commander over esika, or do the new arcehon for my superfriends deck

**NapkinApocalypse:** JACE HATES GREEN CREATURES, you heard it here first!

**Evo411:** Better than Guff?

**HeadYam7636:** Is this the precon commander? This card looks incredible

**MrChocodemon:** -3 = switch a jace token with something actually good

**JimZahhh:** make a lot of artifact and creature tokens then red craterhoof. Not cedh but interesting.
